The Zandvoort circuit is located on the North Sea coast near the Dutch town of Zandvoort.
-
The track was originally built in 1948 and has a total length of 4.252 kilometers.
-
It is often referred to as ‘The Circuit Park Zandvoort’.
-
It hosted the Formula One Dutch Grand Prix every year from 1952 to 1985.
-
The most remarkable characteristic of the circuit is the high dune sections, which provide spectacular views across the entire track.
-
It is often said that the track was designed on the basis of a Go-Kart track with long straights and lots of tight corners.
-
During the Dutch Grand Prix in 1985, the race was stopped on lap 28 out of fear that Nigel Mansell would go airborne at the high dunes.
-
The track was completely renovated in 2001 and new modifications such as a bridge and a large half-pipe were added in 2020.
-
Due to the addition of new features, the length of the track is now 4.307 kilometers.
-
In 2021, the track will be hosting its first Formula One race since 1985.
